A few days ago I read an article by Elder Ballard that was talking about motherhood. He acknowledged that motherhood is difficult and sometimes not very glamourous, and gave a few suggestions for helping us to enjoy it more. He said that we need to recognize that the joy of motherhood comes in moments, and to look for those moments of joy and satisfaction. The other day, I was really stressed about getting everything ready for the blessing and Cade was being wild and a little whiny. I was being a little more short and snippy with him than was probably necessary. All of the sudden, he looks right at me and says, "Mom, you make me so happy!" and gave me a great big tight squeeze! It melted my heart and made the rest of the night go so much better. That is one of those moments Elder Ballard was talking about and it made me realize how grateful I am to be a mom!

I totally loved that article. I've read it over and over. I always laugh at the part where he describes his attempt at sacrament meeting!! The joy definitely comes in moments, but those moments are so big and touching, it makes it totally worth it, and then some!!
I'm so excited to see that you have a blog now! It makes it seem like we see each other more than twice a year! I love that talk too, I remember when he gave it thinking it was written just for me. I often think about it when I'm having a hard day.
I hope you're not mad I googled you and found your blog! I too loved that talk--one of those where I think, "I hope my husband is paying CLOSE attention to this one!" I've finally added stuff to our blog so you should check it out! droubays.blogspot.com
